I wanted to take a moment to explain our card readings and what in general is cartomancy.
Cartomancy, according to wikipedia, is "fortune-telling or divination using a deck of cards. Forms of cartomancy appeared soon after playing cards were first introduced into Europe in the 14th century. Practitioners of cartomancy are generally known as cartomancers, card readers, or simply readers."
For the most part, our card readings are done with the Spanish Deck.
Our Readings
Unlike, Tarot, the way we read with the Spanish Deck is an in-depth reading utilizing 40 cards. We will first tell you what we see, without asking for any information other than your name and date of birth (month and day, year is not necessary). Afterwards, you may ask as many questions as you'd like. What we have found is that during the time where we tell you what we see and the messages that come through, most questions are answered then. But, we always encourage you to ask more questions.
If you choose a reading with a Tarot deck (we have a few to choose from, most of the time, we'll choose whichever deck we are guided to), we use spreads. Spreads indicate specific placements and the card that falls in that space, it is read as such. For instance, if we are doing a 3-card spread: Past, Present and Future; then, the card that is in the Present position is read in those terms. Essentially we use less cards when we read tarot.
My favorite tarot spread is a "Cruzada" or cross, this is our own spread and it shouldn't be confused with the Celtic cross. This spread allows me to look identify: obstacles, thoughts, strengths, near past, future and your emotions of the current situtation. I sometimes add a 7th card for a Message from the Universe, this can be from the tarot deck being used or from an Oracle deck.
Oracle decks are great to receive messages with a single card. We also have several to choose from, or we will chose the one that calls to us.
Another difference between Spanish Deck and Tarot readings is that my dad reads with the Spanish Deck exclusively. And I exclusively read with Tarot and Oracle decks, and not as often with the Spanish Deck. Our $45 in-person reading is an in-depth reading with the Spanish Deck.
